There are generally 3 types of protection plans when it comes to furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps: The New Appliance Warranty Maintenance Plan, a Standard Maintenance Plan, and an Enhanced Maintenance Protection Plan.
01
Silver Maintenance Plan

This plan is used when an appliance is within its manufacturer’s factory warranty. While the appliance is under warranty, annual maintenance is required in order not to void the warranty. Routine maintenance and cleaning of the equipment is performed, and any parts that have failed and are covered by the warranty are replaced. This protection plan coincides with a 10 Year Parts + 10 Years Labor warranty whereby all parts, labour and maintenance are included.

02
Gold Maintenance Plan

This is the type of protection plan that is typically used once your furnace, air conditioner or heat pump’s manufacturer’s parts warranty has expired. When an appliance is 10 years old (for example) and the factory warranty has expired, this protection plan will allow you to continue getting maintenance at the same price as you’ve been receiving for the pas ten years throughout the warranty period. The equipment is no longer under warranty, but you want to continue to maintain your appliance to ensure it continues to work well for as long as possible.
03
Platinum Maintenance Protection Plan

This type of protection plan would provide the same coverage as you have enjoyed throughout the first 10 years of your appliance’s life, but because the factory warranty has expired, your contractor will provide an in-house or an aftermarket warranty at an additional cost. This plan will include an annual maintenance as well as to provide peace-of-mind coverage for another 3 to 7 years. In other words, all parts, labour and maintenance are included.
